» 0 Comments | Post a Comment
Wine: Yalumba Y Series Riesling 2008
Winery: Yalumba, Barossa Valley, Australia
Composition: 100 percent Riesling
Description: Another excellent summer wine that also is a great introduction for those not in the habit of drinking Rieslings. Citrus aromas and flavors -- lime, grapefruit -- abound. Light-bodied and crisp with excellent acidity. 12 percent alcohol
Cost: $10.99-$14
Where to buy: The Wine Market, Wine and Beer Westpark, Vino Market, Belle Kuisine, Once Upon a Vine (north), Total Wine (both locations), Ellwood Thompson's
Fast fact: Riesling, always a quality grape, is most closely identified with Germany and has overtaken MOller-Thurgau, a high-yield, low quality grape, as that country's most-produced grape. California is the top producer of Riesling in this country. Some of the top Virginia Rieslings come from West Wind Farm Vineyard (Max Meadows), Fox Meadow Winery (Linden) and Rockbridge (Raphine).
