International design day in Short Pump

Want to learn secrets of Richmond's top interior designers and home-improvement experts?

Tips and tricks of the trade will be unleashed Thursday at the second annual Day of Design, sponsored by the Richmond chapter of the International Furnishings and Design Association. The event will be held at the new Sierra Hotel at Short Pump Town Center from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Proceeds will benefit Embrace Richmond and the CARITAS (Congregations Around Richmond Involved To Assure Shelter) nonprofit furniture bank.

Sixteen sessions will feature topics ranging from eco-friendly window treatments and countertops to holiday design secrets and mood lighting. Designers will conduct 30-minute seminars followed by one-on-one time with guests.

Tickets for each session are $5 in advance or $7 at the door. Fulland half-day passes also are available. A full-day pass includes eight sessions and refreshments for $30. A half-day pass covers four sessions plus refreshments for $15.
