A motorcyclist died yesterday morning when he crashed into a trash bin in western Henrico County.

Henrico authorities said the crash occurred sometime between 12:30 and 7 a.m. in the 10000 block of Three Chopt Road, near the Pemberton Road intersection.

Investigators said the victim, Steven Duff, was southbound on Pemberton Road and lost control of his motorcycle, a 2006 Harley Davidson, as he crossed Three Chopt Road. The motorcycle ran onto the curb and into the parking lot of the Quick & Easy convenience store, police said.

THANK YOU AGAIN FOR YOUR IMPUT.
I HAVE ALSO DRIVEN BY THIS INTERSECTION AT NIGHT FOR MANY YEARS AND HAVE SEEN AND BEEN CALLED OUT THERE FOR MANY INCIDENTS.
AS FAR AS DRUGS, SPEED OR ALCOHOL WE DO NOT KNOW IF THESE ARE THE FACTORS IN THIS TRAGIC ACCIDENT. THAT WOULD MAKE MATTERS WORST.
BIKERS GET A LABEL BY MANY PEOPLE AS BAD PEOPLE. NOT ALL BIKERS ARE GANGSTERS OR DRUGGIES. LET’S WAIT AN SEE WHAT HENRICO C.S.I. COMES OUT WITH IN THEIR INVESTIGATION. THEY ARE REALLY GOOD AT THEIR JOBS. ONCE AGAIN THANKS FOR YOUR OPINION AND I HOPE YOU DO NOT TAKE OFFENCE ON MY POINT OF VIEW.

I’m sorry GrumpyJamie but I respectfully disagree.  After driving through this intersection on a daily basis for 25 years, I have never seen anyone hit the curb and run off the road because the road changed angles drastically.  That is not without excessive speed, drugs or alcohol playing a factor.

THANK YOU FOR THE INFORMATION ON THE SPEED LIMIT ON PEMBERTON RD. BUT SPEEDS DOES NOT HAVE TO BE A FACTOR. I HAVE SEEN KIDS ON BYCICLES HIT THE SAME CURB. THERE ARE A LOT OF FACTORS ARE INVOLVE LIKE; CARS THAT ARE TURNING BLOCK THE VIEW OF THE ROAD. CARS ON THREE CHOPT PULLING TO FAR FOWARD OF THE STOP LINE AND ALSO THE DIRT THAT ACUMULATES ON THAT INTERSECTION FROM POOR DRAINAGE…...

THE LIST GOES ON AND ON. FOR NOW ALL I WANT IS FOR THE FAMILY TO UNDERSTAND THAT IT WAS JUST AN ACCIDENT AND NOTHING ELSE. MAY GOD REST HIS SOUL.

THANK YOU AGAIN FOR YOUR REMARK AND COMMENT.

My sympathies go out to his family as well.  However, the speed on Pemberton is only 40 miles per hour and if driven at the correct speed, the intersection is not deceiving at all.

I AM ALSO A BIKER AND THAT INTERSECTION IS VERY DECIEVING. YOU ARE HEADING IN ONE DIRECTION AND AS YOU GET TO THE TOP OF THE HILL IT CHANGES THE ANGLE DRASTICALLY. THEY SHOULD HAVE SOME TYPE OF WARNING SIGN.

MY SYMPATHY GOES TO HIS FAMILY.
