Yearbook celebrates Ashland's 150 years
Ashland's not done celebrating yet.
After a year of festivities commemorating the town's 150th birthday, there's one more way to immerse yourself in all that is Ashland.
An Ashland Yearbook went on sale yesterday featuring more than 800 photos, letters and stories from families, individuals, churches, businesses and other organizations.
About 600 of the leather-bound books were distributed Friday afternoon, said Susan Tucker, chairwoman of the town's yearbook committee.
More are on sale through March 2 at the Ashland Visitors Center, 112 N. Railroad Ave. The books are $65.
It has taken about a year to get the books ready, Tucker said. Mailings were sent out a year ago asking for submissions. Hundreds were compiled by May, and the books were sent off to be published by Missouri-based Bell Books.
The result is a journey through the lives of Ashland's residents, Tucker said.
"You can't believe some of the photos people sent us," she said. "I'm talking 100-year-old originals."
Every page is "like opening a Christmas present."
