Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. strongly defended the economic stimulus package today, telling an audience at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College that it has saved the economy.

"I'm absolutely, positively confident we are on the right track," he said of the $787 million package.

Biden addressed a crowd of about 140 community college students and invited guests.

Biden, joined onstage by Richmond Police Chief Bryan T. Norwood, also announced a $1.59 million law enforcement grant for the city of Richmond.

Without naming names, Biden appeared to taunt Rep. Eric I. Cantor, R-7th, the No. 2 Republican in the House of Representatives, for criticizing the stimulus package while favoring the use of stimulus money for high-speed rail.

In a conference call with reporters earlier this afternoon, Cantor criticized President Barack Obama's stimulus package as a failed government program that hasn't delivered on its promise to create more jobs.

Biden next heads to a private fundraiser in Henrico for state Sen. R. Creigh Deeds, the Democratic nominee for governor.

to liberallies…i do not believe any republican member of the house of representatives voted for the $787 billion stimulus bill. you may be thinking about the bank bailout passed during the last days of the bush presidency.

This guy Fernandez is totally shady.  And what a fool.  If he’s a succesful business owner, he’ll be paying out his $$$ in taxes. Check out the pic of his business.

What a boob! And people said Dan Quale was an idiot. And I’m so sure Biden’s travel expenses were picked up by the state dimocrat party instead of the taxpayers
As for Cantor, he probably wishes no one remembered that he voted for the stimulus plan. I do, and I will vote for anyone before a hypocrite like him.

they talk about stimulus package its funny, they give it to the big co. Only to give out bigger bonuses,If they would have given the money to the American people we would fix this problem. Pay off our homes that takes care of the mortgage co. would be able to buy new cars that takes care of the car co. Able to buy TVs,Clothes,Toys,Food that takes care of the stores. Quit letting Co. close factory’s in the USA,and move to other countries, To me that makes no sense.  I know this probably makes no sense, but neither does Co. giving out bonuses With someone else’s money.    Thank,You For your time         Richard

Is is the same economy all of us are living in? What planet has he been on?  Car manufacturers bankrupt, banks losing money, mortgages in default, jobless rate at over 9% and predicted to be over 10% next month, National bebt doubles in less than 180 days, health care reform that will save no money, Czars hired that are illegal according to the congress who are voting not to pay them, bailouts that lead to business failures and finally tax rates goin out of control.  Yep the stimulous bill was so good at saving the economy that even before 20% of the money has been released there is Democratic talk of a second one larger than the first. And where is all the change to a better life you believed was coming with this administration?  Oh don’t forget the escalation of the war in Afganistan to replace the war in Itaq.

“"I’m absolutely, positively confident we are on the right track,“ he said of the $787 million package.“

What planet is he on? The last time I checked the unemployment rate was climbing steadily as well as tax increases. People, just wait until this ridiculous health plan surfaces and you have to wait for the almighty one to say, “Yes you have my permission to get that liver kidney transplant or treatment for that brain tumor in your head”... mean while, the “Hill” is exempt from participating in this health program because it’s not good enough! PEOPLE WAKEUP!!!
