Woman’s body found in Richmond’s Museum District
Richmond police are trying to determine how a woman died in the city's Museum District.
The woman's body was found yesterday about 6:14 a.m. in the driveway at the side entrance to an apartment complex at Kensington Avenue and Nansemond Street.
The body was found between the entrance to the Ross-Smith Apartments at 3524 Kensington Ave. and the sidewalk along Nansemond Street. Police did not say whether the body showed signs of trauma.
"We don't know yet what caused this woman's death," police spokesman James Mercante said yesterday morning.
Police sealed off the 400 block of Nansemond Street, and city schools redirected bus traffic away from the scene. Crime-scene technicians and crash investigators arrived at the scene early to determine what happened, but police still had no answers by late afternoon.
"At this point, it's still under investigation," spokeswoman Dionne Waugh said.
