Large brawl in Chesterfield, shots fired

» 20 Comments | Post a Comment

A 16th birthday party last night in Chesterfield County ended with a fight involving as many as 100 people, reports of gunshots and a search for a missing teenager, police said.

The brawl took place shortly after 10 p.m. outside the Bensley Community Center on Drewrys Bluff Road -- the same building where an event was held earlier this month to celebrate National Night Out, an anti-crime effort.

It is unclear what started the ruckus, said Chesterfield police Capt. Kevin Smith, adding that someone also kicked a car's fender, causing about $200 in damage.

No serious injuries were reported, but the parents of an 18-year-old man reported him missing about 3 a.m.

His parents had heard, correctly, that he had been assaulted during the brawl, Smith said, and police started looking for him. Then about 1 p.m. today, the parents informed police that their son had been in Richmond unharmed.

"He had gone to the city to get away from this incident," Smith said.

No charges had been placed, but police are conducting separate assault investigations.

LexTalionis, Jack, Dick Tracy:  You all three “Hit the nail on the head”!  From some of the comments others made they are right in that same class as the ones causing all the trouble and some don’t want their “playhouses” and “free money” messed with!  It’s so easy to pick ‘em out!!

DickTracy is a troll. Please don’t respond to him and maybe he will slink back under the bridge.

Really integration wow!  Well that the law for you giving the people the right to choose where they want to live.  I mean isn’t that un-American?  LOL

“Jack” is talking about integration, when he mentions Chesterfield “relaxing” its northern border.

Reading some of these comments made me laugh “relaxed borders, people flowing in”.  Tell me is there a certain criteria or requirement that on must pass before one can live in chesterfield?  As for the relaxed border are there partoling guards I don’t know about did they fall asleep guarding the border.  Also I am not sure what rap music has to do with this incident even though I stopped listening to it about eights years ago.  Unless the message is that rap music corrupts the minds of children in chesterfiled like mind control.

mommadocious, you don’t seem to be able to face reality.

Fights outside teen parties at Richmond site raise concerns

http://www2.timesdispatch.com/rtd/news/local/article/TEEN17_20090816-220208/286524/

This article just reinforces the problem seen at the Bensley Recreation Center. It seems that anytime a group of young black youth assemble there is a problem with violence. Even a 16th birthday party is not immune.

Where are these kids parents? Apparently absent and the result of their lack of parenting is painfully evident.

To think that so much security and off duty police officers are required to keep a group of teens under control is simply amazing. Have we degenerated into a third world culture?

Maybe these events should be banned until the participants can learn to control themselves.

JUST THE FACTS MAM

Dear mommadocious, your response confuses crime and economic
statistics with demographics. We are talking about Chesterfield, or if you will, the Chesterfield-Richmond crime scene demographics—not the periodic and widely variant percentiles of other parts of the country which vary by race, socio-economics and other influences.  To reduce the evident trends in the locale here by watering them down with generalities is not on point. If we blatantly assume otherwise, we cannot address the issues which are as plain as day.  Class and racial components of crime stats are particular to a region. If you cannot deal with those facts, then you
can’t deal with reality. The large numbers of ex-cons, unemployable
young minority men and youth that fill the chasms of low and subsidized housing in the Richmond area do in fact carry over to the tide of crime that influences nearby counties. The trend for young minorities to murder unarmed whites has been on the increase in the
area for some time—e.g, the murder of Tyler Binsted in Byrd Park last year. The fact that every time VCU hosts a rap oriented event at the Siegel Center massive police force is present because of the repeated fights and violence that have occurred tells you something of the nature of the demographics. Do you want to make believe it away?

Those who cannot deal with the facts are either in denial or asleep. We’ll talk again one day when you wake up.

it amazes me how self-righteous the posters that read the times dispatch are when it comes to violent crime.  white people are no more immune to doing horrible things than people of other ethnicities.  we seem to be quick to point out the wrongdoing of people of other cultures and ethnicities when our own closets are not too clean.  look at the columbine massacre, the virginia tech shootings, charles manson, son of sam, wrestler benoit killing his whole family, the texas clock tower shootings, any two of which combined equals to half the murder rate in the city of richmond for the entire year in just a single incident.  so before you begin throwing stones at richmond, rap music, blacks, hispanics, or any other ethnic group when it comes to violence—-look closer to home.  i would feel much safer with my children in a city school than any county school where some geeky kid might get angry with life and try to take out as many innocent lives as he can before knocking himself off with daddy’s gun.  get a life and stop complaining about taxes, welfare and crime because welfare would not exist if it were only for black people and hispanics.  there are far more whites on public assistance.  check the statistics…and look in your own pocketbooks for your wic checks and EBT cards, section 8 homes, medicaid and welfare.  we seem to care less about the life of a man that is black or hispanic and dies a tragic death than we do about animals—-hence the fiasco with michael vick.  he has done his time and is still not forgiven in the eyes of the public.  let’s get back to basics and stop blaming everyone outside of ourselves for crime and violence.  how about praying and asking god to forgive us for our prejudiced and ugly ways.  then maybe we can enjoy our lives in chesterfield or any other county without judging a group of people for the crimes of one person.  how sad and immature.

MURDERS & BRAWLS IN CHESTERFIELD-
JUST LIKE WHITCOMB COURT !!

2006: 18 year old Shawn Lindenfeld murdered Allen “Chip” Ellis with a bullet to the head because he wanted his car. Both of them were classmates at Midlothian high school (Chesterfield)

2008 2007 Detavis King kills Ryan Matko with a bullet to the head(we all know he did it)—in of all places Chesterfield County.

Only the tip of the iceberg of course. The papers are filled with the murders and madness that go on in Chesterfield—but this is old news in Richmond—where on any given weekend some “brawl” occurs (for some strange reason a lot of them happen at “rap” concerts
and I’m still trying to figure out why?? I mean I always thought a
mind was a horrible thing to waste.)

I want to thank Chesterfield County for taking the overflow of criminal minds that have flourished in Richmond for so long—many getting their start in the
City’s public housing “Courts” which encircle the town rotting away in the summer heat (which our tax dollars pay for) the haven to many of the druggies and bad boys that cross the border into your beautiful wide open county.

The barbarians aren’t at the gate, they are already here…

That’s exactly why after 55 years I got the heck out. I could see the handwriting on the wall that Chesterfield was going to be overrun by the Richmond troublemakers. So far sadly I’m right. The school system is in freefall from the influx of so-called “disadvantaged” students, the police department is struggling trying to maintain law and order requiring more and more personnel, county taxpayers are having more and more of their tax money handed out to the dependent on government aid to exist.

Chesterfield is not a county that any sane person would want to live or expose their family to the undesirable elements of our society. Of course those living in the affluent sections are insulated and don’t see the everyday problems.  It is a county in ever increasing decline for the vast majority.
