Hard Times Fall Festival set at Chester Village Green
The Kiwanis Club of Chester will present the Hard Times Fall Festival from 4 to 8 p.m. Oct. 15, 2008, at the Village Green on state Route 10 in Chester.
"This event is in response to our economic hard times and our desire to give our community the opportunity to attend a great event that is inexpensive, centrally located and fun," said David Elswick, the Kiwanis Club of Chester's publicity chairman.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 10 and older and free for children younger than 10.
The ticket covers the cost of hot dogs, corn muffins, chili and soft drinks. Also included in the cost of an adult ticket are two adult beverages, either wine or beer.
Additional adult drink tickets may be purchased at the event. And some vendors will sell additional items that are not included in the ticket price.
Music will be provided by Spectrum, a 10-piece variety band.
Door prizes will be drawn from the meal tickets of the attendees. Prizes include $100 gasoline coupons, $100 grocery coupons, and a grand prize Royal Caribbean "Two Day Cruise To Nowhere" out of Norfolk.
The Kiwanis Club of Chester will use the proceeds to fund college scholarships for a student at each of the following: Thomas Dale, L.C. Bird and Community high schools, and John Tyler Community College.
The event is rain or shine -- no refunds. Tickets must be purchased in advance. They are on sale through Oct. 12 from members of the Kiwanis Club of Chester; at the club's Web site, www.chesterkiwanis.org; or from Chester's Uno Chicago Grill (Jefferson Davis Highway), Flagstop Car Wash & Quick Lube (Route 10) and Heritage Chevrolet (Jefferson Davis Highway).
