Prince George County recently honored several employees with Service Awards for their years of exceptional work for the county.

They are: Sharon Cogle, deputy clerk, Combined Courts (District Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court), 35 years of service.Martin Robertson, county attorney, 35 years of service

William F. Gandel, director of Social Services, 30 years of service

Jean Barker, treasurer, 25 years of service

Ellen Chiasson, clerk of Prince George Combined Courts, 25 years of service

Nancy Atwater, deputy clerk, Circuit Court, 20 years of service

Ann Clark, deputy registrar, 20 years of service

Michelle Ferguson, Employment Services worker, 20 years of service

Kenneth Williams, police captain, 20 years of service

Paul Burrows, police lieutenant, 15 years of service

James Crowder, police sergeant, 15 years of service

Bob Leinberger, Environmental Health specialist, 15 years of service

Shelly Crowder, police officer, 10 years of service

Aimee Gleason, administrative associate, 10 years of service

Brenda Gwaltney, administrative associate, 10 years of service

Robert Hatchett, Planning/Zoning technician, 10 years of service

Joyce Jackson, deputy clerk, Circuit Court, 10 years of service

John Leach, police sergeant, 10 years of service

J.T. Mann, detective, 10 years of service

Sean Moore, police sergeant, 10 years of service

Darlene Rowsey, commissioner of the revenue, 10 years of service

Daniel Schmeider, police officer, 10 years of service

Harold Shreves, police officer, 10 years of service

Gail Smith, Office Services specialist, 10 years of service

Christina Baxley, police officer, five years of service

Christopher Bryant, detective, five years of service

Anthony Conner, Animal Control officer, five years of service

Earl Crawford, police officer, five years of service

Ann Daniel, payroll specialist, five years of service

Valerie Glass, office associate, five years of service

Marcus Hackett, utility maintenance mechanic, five years of service

John Logan, grounds maintenance worker, five years of service

Hermon Maclin, Extension agent, 4-H, five years of service

Fleta Marshall, deputy treasurer, five years of service

Douglas Miles, zoning administrator/planner, five years of service

Dana Newmeyer, communications officer, five years of service

Mike Roberts, Extension agent, agriculture and natural resources, five years of service

Sherita Saunders, communications officer, five years of service

Eddy Stewart, building maintenance mechanic, five years of service

Anthony Townsend, police officer, five years of service

David Sutton, building maintenance/convenience station superintendent, five years of service

In addition, Robert "Bobby" Carmichael received the "You are the One" employee of the year award for his dedication to law enforcement.

Also, Denise Johnson, Brenda Jones, Julie Walton, Rod Compton, Matt Blaes and Pamela Thompson earned the "Together We Can" team of the year award for their work to modify the county code to ensure faster response time for police, fire and rescue personnel and to assist the postal service by maintaining a uniform addressing system for residential mail.

The awards were presented Dec. 10, 2008, during the county's annual Service Awards Banquet.
