Richmond deputy present when shots fired in Chesterfield
A Richmond sheriff's deputy was present during an exchange of gunfire in a parking lot outside a Wendy's restaurant in Chesterfield County, a sheriff's spokesman said.
The incident occurred late this afternoon outside Wendy's off Hopkins Road in the Meadowbrook Plaza Shopping Center, according to Richmond sheriff's Maj. Jerry Baldwin.
"Gunfire was exchanged," Baldwin said. "I don't know whether the deputy fired any shots. Nobody was injured."
Baldwin said three people involved in the incident left the scene, but that the deputy remained behind to speak with Chesterfield police officers. The deputy also went to Chesterfield police headquarters to give a statement, Baldwin said.
Baldwin said he didn't know the deputy's name or whether he was onor off-duty. Chesterfield police are investigating.

It doesn’t bode well when the local inhabitance dub the local high school Ghettobrook.
Beulah Elementry and Falling Creek Middle fall into that description also. My daughter had to take our grandaughter out of Beulah 3 years ago when we discovered she was the only white student in her class and . We visited one day and you either had to have an interpreter and/or Ebonics knowledge to understand the kids. I will say the teachers had the situation well under control and orderly but given 90+ percent of students are receiving free meals and the schools low sol ratings one has to question the quality of education these schools are able to provide. I think the teachers are facing a mission impossible scenario.
Both of my sisters attended Ghettobrook and I can assure you that the school then bears no resemblance to the disaster that is now. What a shame and disgrace how a small minority can absolutely wreck our institutions in such a short time.
Crime, drugs, property neglect, junk in yards, trash scattered everywhere makes the area look just like the projects in Richmond and third world countries. One would think they could at least pick up the trash and buy a few gallons of paint for their house.
I stopped shopping and eating at Meadowbrook Plaza. The poobutts have spilled over from the city to the outskirts of the county. It doesn’t bode well when the local inhabitance dub the local high school Ghettobrook.
I grew up very close to that location. Years ago the Wendy’s started out as a Burger Chef for those old enough to remember. The area was very safe. One could leave the car keys in the ignition the doors on the house unlocked and nothing would ever be bothered. We ran and played without worry.
Then…..the undesirables started moving in. Well to make it short that was the end of the good life. Been steady downhill ever since. Maybe if those of us living there had blown them away every time they stole a car or broke in a home the problem would have been solved. The Chesterfield police did not do anything then and even less now because of the PC<racial and ethnic limitations placed on them. The wild west in some ways was probably tamer. Don’t try to tell me I’m wrong Ive lived there.
Mikey, Especially with regard to guns, I’m no “left wing crackhead” (really mature, BTW). I just squeezed out a few clips for target practice in the backyard this afternoon, as a matter of fact.
However, I’m not toting around some deranged vigilante fantasy, like I’m going to be judge, jury, and executioner after the fact to a robbery attempt. So, yes, I guess I haven’t “figured it out” like you seem to have. I’m a responsible[\i] and prudent[\i] gun owner.
P.S. “most stupid word in the English language” was a nice touch. Thanks for the LOLs, dude.
12step… I don’t expect flaming left-wing crackheads like you to figure it out, and your post proves it. Don’t take life so damn seriously.
And don’t call me dude. That’s the most stupid word in the English language. Using it shows complete lack of brainpower.
“ I said robbery, not speeding. Get real.“
Dude, you’re fantasizing about having a 30+ person trial and execution for a robbery in a parking lot and somebody else is supposed to get real? Uh-huh.
There are places in the world where the gun rules. One of them is Somalia.
That’s great—let the guns do the talking. You guys watch too much television. This isn’t the wild west. And how much time do any of you spend in court? But hey, let’s just blow someone away and make a useless point. I won’t even mention the posibility that if 12 jurors can’t get a right determination and let ‘the guilty’ go, I am supposed to believe that armed chuckleheads can sum a situation in seconds and render a verdict and execute a sentence. Well, if common sense doesn’t permeate your thick, over-armed brains, let me advise you that there are plenty of hungry lawyers who will gladly sue the pants off of you on behalf of the decedents’ families. Trust me, a much more painful death.
Mr. B, I think what most people are expressing is their frustration toward crime these days. It appears that these losers do the crime and get no time. The police risk their life getting the losers arrested, and the judges have no place to put them, so they give them a stern talking to, and let them free to continue their illegal activities. I do not think anyone here is looking to blow people away for small time crimes, but something must be done, and the old way of calling the police does not seem to be doing anything. I hope you are never faced by one of these losers, but I know exactly what I intend to do if I am. If you do not like what some of the comments on this thread are stating, I recommend you write your representatives and tell them to start listening to tax payers - We are sick of these losers getting away with “no time”. I have written, and all I get is an irrelevant form letter back, and letters asking for donations to their campaigns.
Mr. B… I said robbery, not speeding. Get real.
