A Richmond man was the motorcyclist killed during a pursuit Saturday in Chesterfield County, state police said yesterday.

Virginia State Police said Erwin Brower, 27, was trying to elude a trooper who had initiated a traffic stop.

The chase lasted about 10 minutes, beginning on northbound Interstate 95 just south of Chester about 8 p.m. The crash occurred on southbound Chippenham Parkway near U.S. 1.

State police Sgt. Thomas Molnar said Brower lost control of the motorcycle while driving at a high rate of speed on Chippenham Parkway.

Brower, who police said was wearing a helmet, died at the scene.

No law-enforcement officers were injured in the pursuit, Molnar said.

actually, you are being naive instead of “realistic”

without the “threat” of pursuit, any miscreant can just drive off, regardless of the severity of the offense or potential punishment

And with that said, while I am greatful for the police officers who serve and protect I would like for the Police Adminstration to look at possible alternatives to police pursuits. I think that we should all be law abiding citizens and follow the laws (no matter how much we may disagree). Police pursuits are dangerous. I think about the family who lost both their elderly parents that were hit by a police officer during a high speed chase.  What are they?  Collateral Damage?  Was their life not important? Was the criminal they were chasing worth their lives?  I am not in agreeance with law breakers and taking off is stupid, dangerous, and could lead to consequences alot worst than the jail time they may be facing as Mr. Brower found out.  But at some point, other alternatives need to be looked at to keep from having the same end result-death.

I think you all need a hug…
Those of you who are making comments about being happy forthis young man’s death is indicative of the ignorance that has plagued our society.  Brower made a bad judgment that ultimately cost him his life.  For that, his family has my condolences.  No one
should be happy this man lost his life.  I did not know him nor do I like the rest of you know why he made such an ere in judgment but instead of making such snide and ignorant comments maybe you should think of the son that will no longer see father or the mother that has lost a son.  His mistake led to consequences that he no longer can correct.  So instead of talking so stupid among each other, be human.  It could have been your son or brother or even father.
