Falls Church man killed in collision with dump truck in Louisa

A Falls Church man was killed early today when the car he was driving crossed the center line of U.S. 15 in Louisa County and collided head-on with a dump truck, state police said.

Jose A. Torres-Melendez, 29, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 6:53 a.m. crash, about two miles north of Interstate 64, police said.

Police said the victim was driving south on U.S. 15 when his vehicle crossed into the northbound lane and struck the dump truck carrying 20 tons of gravel. Police are investigating why Torres-Melendez veered into opposite lane.

U.S. 15 has been re-opened to traffic, police said.
