Fire destroyed three mobile homes tonight around 9 at Harrison's Mobile Home Park on Boydton Plank Road in Dinwiddie County, officials report.

No occupants were reported injured but one firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion, said Chief Alvin Langley of the Ford Volunteer Fire Department.

"People said they were outside, looked at the trailer and saw it on fire." said Langley, who added that the cause is under investigation.

Six people -- a couple and their two children and another couple -- were left homeless, he said.

In all, power had to be cut off to six mobile homes and 10 residences were evacuated, he said.

The Southside Area Chapter of the Red Cross is arranging temporary housing and other aid for a total of 10 people as a result, said Christy Carneal, disaster chair.

The park, off U.S. 1, has about 65 mobile homes, Langley said. Namozine, Dinwiddie and Carson (Prince George) volunteer fire departments also responded to the blaze, he said.
