Suspect arrested in four Farmville slayings

Longwood professor 'loved her work'

Map of Farmville, murder site

FARMVILLE -- April Harper walked her pit bull, Titan, near her former sociology professor's home yesterday, feeling "sad and just amazed" by what had happened in the gray house shrouded by trees on First Avenue.

"I wish I had said 'Hi' to her a couple of more times," said Harper, a Longwood University senior from Richmond.

When she was a freshman, Harper had taken a sociology course taught by Longwood professor Debra S. Kelley.

"She loved her work. She was very passionate about it," Harper said. "She had a lot of spirit."

It was in Kelley's home, adjacent to a Longwood athletic field, that four people were found slain Friday, apparently killed days earlier.

Police have not confirmed their identities, but people in this college town fear that Kelley and members of her family were among the victims.

Longwood University officials, including President Patricia Cormier, gathered yesterday on campus awaiting confirmation of the identities, said spokesman Dennis Sercombe. The university said counseling services were available for students.

Sercombe said Kelley had worked for Longwood since 1994. She graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University and earned her doctorate at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

A tenured associate professor of sociology, Kelley had been on educational leave this semester doing research on her own, Sercombe said. She was not expected to return to teaching, he said.

In interviews and on electronic message boards, some students and Longwood parents questioned why the university did not close the campus after the bodies were discovered. Sercombe said the university decided there was no need to because police determined the slayings had occurred days before and that no immediate threat remained.

He described the arrest of a suspect so soon after the bodies were discovered as "pretty masterful police work."

Near Kelley's home yesterday, Harper praised her former professor as she and roommate Marti Wigley, also a Longwood senior, walked Titan.

They described Kelley's neighborhood as "the nice part of Farmville."

It's a neighborhood filled with professional people, including many who work at Longwood, they said.

Yesterday, the 500 block of First Avenue was cordoned off by yellow police tape, with only a few motorists driving by to stare at the house.

Jeff Christian, who moved in just a few doors down from the Kelley home three months ago, kept a watchful eye on the traffic and his 4-year-old twins as they played in his front yard.

A few weeks ago he noticed Kelley holding a yard sale in front of her house, but said he didn't have time to stop by.

Christian said he and his wife moved to the neighborhood for their four children because of its reputation for safety.

"That's the reason we moved here," he said. Now he's not so sure, and said he has been talking to his wife about moving again.

The gruesome nature of the crime "bothers me a great deal," he said.

"I will keep my handgun close by," he said.

This was a GANG HIT.

The kid was a friend of Serial Killing REcords owner Andreas Shrim. Sam Mccrosky, a minor, was indoctrinated into Satanism via drugs, alcohol, and lots of anti-Christian rap music which openly advocated rape and murder.

These guys are AMERICAN TERRORISTS and should ALL be investigated.

You gotta’ be kidding me.  “I’ve managed to come across as ...... uninformed?“  Uniformed of what?  This is a news board- not a memorial page.  There’s places for that too.  I’m a detached observer of the news- talking about the news.  Using big words inappropriately does not make one’s argument any stronger- just silly.  I admit the spelling correction (no, “castigation”) was over the top.  Sorry for the officiousness.  However, emotional intelligence is rarely discernible over a message board.  Try harder newbie.

Nonplus, you’ve managed to come across as extremely insensitive and uninformed.  You have presented yourself as someone that is ignorant of common decency and incapable of comporting yourself in an empathetic, emotionally-intelligent manner.  I felt shame just reading your post.  How dare you castigate someone about something so trifling as spelling errors while they are clearly grief stricken.

To those that are directly impacted, such as lustudent, by this tragedy, my heart goes out to you.  There truly are no words that can help in a time like this, but know that the sympathies of many go out to you.
I apologize for taking up comment space for my note to nonplus, but felt it necessary in this instance.

lustudent,
Your grief is noted.  Sorry for the loss.  However, as a student, you would most likely want to honor your teacher in several ways:
1. Acknowledge the sociological aspects of this event and appreciate the structural debate that results.
2. spell properly (it’s mourning, not morning).

Yes Defensive is a good term because police in general are overworked and under paid and no one seems to see that.  I am 99% sure that they were not watching the party but had recieved the complaint and were checking it out.  I do not work for FPD however pound for pound I would put them up against any Police Dept.  There are times when even an adult can not get themselves out of harms way.
No a nerve was not hit, but alot of folks play Monday Morning Quarterback and do alot of what ifs.  Not saying you were, but I too was making an observation.
Not angry or upset however I do love this community and you should come by a check things out on any given Thurs, Fri and Sat., unannounced and really see what goes on and I think that you will be impressed by what you see…..
Blessings…...

Do you all not understand what happened here? Four people were murdered, one of them my teacher and advisor whom loved her job and students… and all you people can do is argue about the parties and how the police department handled this? come on now. you need to realize the important things in life please, because people are morning over this right now, and half of you are arguing over petty crap. its pathetic and it makes me sad for you all. RIP dr. kelley <3

Not a resident.  A Longwood parent.  One does not need to live in a place to understand resource allocation, and I’m detecting a hint of defensiveness.  Not necessary.  Nobody is pointing fingers.  My original post was a commentary praising the University’s response to the crime while also pointing out the fact that in a small college town, the police dept. MAY be spending a greater portion of limited time and effort babysitting college students than is necessary.  The town residents require policing as well.

If the students are disturbing the peace, then the parties should be busted and closed down.  If my kid gets in harms way, then it’s up to her to get herself out of it- just like any adult.  Why are the parties watched?  I’m just making an observation.

I’ve clearly hit a nerve with my comment- and maybe that’s a good thing.  I’m sure the officers involved in this case are traumatized by what they found and I’m certain the whole dept. is shocked that this happened in their own town.  It’s tragic, and it’s not their fault. I was simply making an observation.

nonplus; Yes they are adults then maybe they should make adult choices by not having huge loud parties that disturb other citizens and then maybe the police would not have to spend their valuable time on large parties.  Trust me the police do not want to babysit, but they are going to protect your child from harms way, even though you think they are wasting time.  Check the stats on binge drinking and assaults, rapes and alcohol poisoning.  How do you know about the resources of Farmville PD?  Are you a resident?

WAS THIS A “MANSON-ESQUE” SATANIC RITUAL KILLING?
As you can read at this Link , the rapper/ alleged murderer Sam McCrosky, known as “Lil Demon-Dog” was arrested in connection with the murder of a priest and three others in Virginia.

Strangely, this was not a surprise to me as I met “Syko Sam” a few years back. As a result of my personal experience with Sam and his affiliated “Horror Core” rap artists, I believe that New Mexico Rap Label “Serial Killing Records” is behind the grisly mass murder.Basically, I was an actor in one of their music videos. In the video they killed a priest, a Rabbi, a Muslim Cleric, and the Pope. Sam McCrosky killed a PASTOR IN REAL LIFE (Virginia pastor, Mark Niederbrock. )

You can watch the video here. I was the one playing the “Jew” who gets his throat slashed by “Sicktanik Tha Soulless”:

Here’s how I know that this case is more evil than the newspapers even know:

1) Sam McCrosky’s stage names contain a coded, occult reference. According to Sam McCrosky’s own web postings, his stage name was a reference to the Son of Sam David Berkowitz’s belief that a demon dog named Sam told him to kill innocent people. The Son of Sam admitted that he was working for a Satanic cult in Yonkers. Sam’s stage names are:

a) SYKO SAM
b) LIL DEMON DOG

2) According to Sicktanik himself (CEO of Serial Killing Records) the night of the music video shoot, the video was actually a Satanic ritual itself. The filmmakers were all members of the Church of Satan (they showed me the red membership cards) and the editor was a high ranking Freemason. They endlessly talked about “Masonic Ritual Murders” and how this video was “magickally charged.“ The video was shot on April 30, 2006 which had “occult significance” to the crew and the rappers, as it was the 40th anniversery of the Church of Satan’s founding, and is the night known as Walpurgisnacht, or “Witches Night.“

3) Sicktanik and company often joked that if any of them were to go out and “pull a Manson”, that they should “blame it on Jesus.“ They believed that Jesus and Lucifer were brothers and needed to be united. Sam McCrosky and the rest believed that when Jesus said “Love Thy Enemy,“ that the “Enemy” referred to was Satan himself. This belief is right out of Charles Manson’s cult.

a) SAM McCROSKY BLAMED THE KILLINGS ON JESUS!

4)The record label has connections to Satanism and the Occult as evidenced by the above music video “In Tha Name Of.“ As I stated, I was an actor in a rap music video which I was told at the time was a Satanic Ritual designed to invoke the blessing of Sam the 3000 year old “Demon Dog.“

If you noticed, the video betrays a murderous intention—they even told me that our ritual sacrifice would bring Serial Killing Records money and fame. That night, they were very specific about the alignment of Venus which they said was completing a pentagram (the pentagonal conjunction of Venus). The woman in the video was a stripper and a Satanic Witch who was chosen for her role because in Satanism, the altar is actually the nude body of a woman, preferably a Satanic Witch.

5) I remember Sam as being really intent on the graffiti in the stage resembling that of David Berkowitz the “Son of Sam”‘s apartment:
(The phrase “Wicked King Wicker” was also written on the wall of the apartment of the Son of Sam. It’s a reference to “The Wicker Man,“ a movie about human sacrifice)

6) Sicktanick (his real name is Andreas) told us that he sold his soul to Satan and was going to make Horror Core music the soundtrack to a coming Apocalypse just as the music of the Beatles fueled the mania of Charles Mason. If you look at that video, there is a copy of Helter Skelter prominently displayed.

7) When I heard what Sam did, and recalling their murderous rants about “Saint Berkowitz” I knew something was up and I am not surprised that Sicktanick is covering it up. He even said that the Satanic killings are always blamed on a “scapegoat” who takes the blame for the cult. I know he is complicit and he should be investigated. Also, I regret ever taking part in that filthy, satanic video.

Not playing monday morning anything.  I clearly stated that college students are adults and frankly, I don’t want my kids babysat at college.  Yes, I pray for their safety, but cops should be out on the roads monitoring drunk driving and responding to strange issues like a missing person.  Was this visitor at the Kelly home underaged?  The mother called asking for them to look into it.

And I’m sincerely not pointing fingers, simply making an observation.

As far as resources go, I know a bit about resource allocation and in a small town like that, there’s not many cruisers out at one time.  I think it should be noted that the Longwood and Hampden-Sydney students are not the only people in Farmville engaging in potentially dangerous behavior.  Maybe that should go noted.
