Here's a snapshot of emergency calls during the week of Oct. 19-26, as reported by Metro Richmond fire departments.

RICHMOND

Fire Calls: 166 Emergency Medical Calls: 435 EMS: cardiac arrest (5), chest pain (74), breathing problems (157), shooting (3), stabbing (4), unconsciousness (62).

Significant Events:

  • Fire: 1400 block of Bainbridge, two-story building. Units found a dryer on fire.

    HENRICO

    Fire Calls: 133 Emergency Medical Calls: 514

    Significant Events: Fire: First block of Battery Street, house. Heavy fire in the kitchen/living area into the attic area. Significant smoke throughout the home. Fire claimed three lives (one adult and two children). Under investigation.

    FIRE SAFETY

Daylight saving time ends Sunday. Change your clock, and change your smoke-detector battery.
