The cause of an east Henrico County house fire that killed a 16-year-old and critically injured a 9-year-old Friday night remains under investigation.

Fire officials would not release the names of the victims this morning.

"We are still putting information together," said Capt. Chris Buehren of the Henrico Fire Department. "It's still a very active investigation."

Yellow caution tape surrounded the yard of the home at the corner of Johnson Road and Oak Hill Lane today. A neighbor who did not know the family personally said they had not lived in the home long.

Buehren said a family pet, a dog, also perished in the fire.

The 9-year-old was taken to VCU Medical Center where he was in critical condition, fire officials said.
