Suspected gang members arrested in April shooting

An investigation into a shooting in Goochland County has led to the arrest of six suspected members of a Henrico County gang, authorities said.

The arrests came after a 10-month investigation into an April 5 incident in which an alleged member of the Tiny Rascal Gang, or TRG, opened fire on the Goochland home of a suspected member of the Crips gang, said Goochland Sheriff James L. Agnew.

Members of TRG blamed the Crips member for the defacement of a "TRG" symbol, Agnew said, and an argument took place April 5 before the shooting on Duck Pond Road in Goochland.

Agnew said one man fired three shots at the house, with one of the rounds ending up in a bathtub.

The house was occupied by a man, woman and child, Agnew said, but the supposed Crips member was not there. No one was hurt.

Henrico police Lt. Doug Perry said yesterday that investigators still were working to identify members of the Henrico gang.

Authorities from Henrico, Richmond and Goochland participated in the arrests.

Authorities identified the suspects as Junior R. Chamroeum, 20, of Henrico; David Leng, 20, of Richmond; Robert Leng, 21, of Henrico; Chanvirith Lor, 23, of Chesterfield County; Johnny Lor, 18, of Chesterfield; and Michael J. Mao, 22, of Silver Spring, Md.

Each faces these charges: attempted murder, shooting into an occupied dwelling, use of a firearm in a felony and participating in a street gang with a juvenile.

RUkiddingME I agree with you completely gangs are popping up everywhere and kids get involved because they think it will make them cool and before you know it they are involved way over their heads. As a parent I am very aware of gangs and the affect they have on communities and our children.

What’s the fine for shooting a gang member? $50? Can I mail that in?

GlenAllen3, I, for once, will agree with you that sometimes the word “gang” gets everyone up in arms, but even worse is the denial you seem to have that gangs seem to exist even in the country.  It is not the crimes which gang members commit which causes grave concern, those violent crimes have been committed by individuals throughout time.  It is the fact that the gangs are stealing our kids.  That is the biggest crime.  In addition, if you do not treat these organizations as domestic terrorists, then they will come in like a virus and feed off of your community like one until it is too late to get rid of.

I applaud the authorities for their hard work.  TRG, although funny in name, will kill you just the same as a Crip, Blood or MS-13 member.
