Fire deaths were accidental in Henrico
Three victims of a Highland Springs fire early yesterday morning died accidentally from smoke inhalation, according to the state medical examiner's office.
The investigation of the fire at 14 Battery Ave. is continuing and the cause of the fire remains undetermined, according to Capt. Chris Buehren.
Authorities identified the victims as Latasha N. Davis, 28, Jasmine Whisnant, 8, and Jamie L. Whisnant Jr., 3.
A family pet dog also perished in the blaze, which was most evident in the central portion of the one-story home.
The children were found in a rear bedroom and their mother was located in a hallway leading to the bedroom area on one side of the house. The medical examiner's office said that all three victims died from "inhalation of combusted products."

I had the pleasure of working with this young lady while I lived in Richmond. Such a wonderful person with lots of life. My prayers are with the family.
