A Henrico man was taken to jail this morning after pleading guilty to charges that he killed a 66-year-old man on a motor scooter in a hit and run last year.

Leonard Ledbetter Jr. agreed to begin serving a sentence today that will be formally determined at a hearing April 22.

Testimony from Henrico Investigator J.R. Howard showed that Ledbetter was traveling at least 74 mph Sept. 28 on Azalea Avenue near Henrico High School when his car struck a scooter operated by Calvin Archer. Archer was returning to a sister's home from choir practice.

Ledbetter was arrested the next day after a girlfriend of Ledbetter's reported that the car he was in had been stolen.
