Virginians sign petitions supporting health proposal
Organizing for health care
A couple of hundred people gathered at the state capitol to rally for health care reform. Hear voices from the crowd. The state director for Sen. Mark R. Warner, D-Va., will head to Capitol Hill with a box of petitions signed by Virginians in support of President Barack Obama's health-care principles.
Several hundred health-care-reform supporters gathered at the Bell Tower on the grounds of the state Capitol yesterday evening to express their support for Obama's efforts. The event was coordinated by Organizing for America, a project of the Democratic National Committee.
The group said it presented Warner's state director, Eva Teig Hardy, with about 42,000 declarations of support for Obama's three health-care-reform principles -- reduced cost, guaranteed choice and quality care for all.
The organization is in the process of presenting these declarations to other members of Virginia's Congressional delegation, said Brandyn Keating, the group's state director.
"The idea is for them to take away the depth and breath of the constituent base that is concerned about the health-care debate and the urgency," Keating said. -- Olympia Meola

I agree Questiongovt. and how mant people have signed petitions against the govt. healthcare? Warner is having his town hall meeting in Fredricksburg and at the same time as Bobby Scott!!!! hmmmm
The headline is grossly misleading as is the event itself. Based on the report, petitioners only expressed support for THREE OBJECTIVES. They did NOT endorse any of the specific actions contained in the proposals being considered in Congress - most of which are unknown.
Organizing for America and the DNC are attempting to represent wide support for specifics when, in actuality, the 42,000 signers supported only general objectives. All members of Congress, - including Webb, Warner, and the entire Virginia delegation - if they were objective. would be engaging in town-hall meetings explaining specific proposals instead of using petitions which fail to address any of the specifics of pending legislation as “excuses” for what are probably their predetermined votes when the matter reaches the floor.
Amazing how this got so little coverage but let a bunch of right wing tea bagging idiots show up screaming and shouting and acting like mad spoiled 4 year olds then they are all over it. 42,000 signatures and several hundred people show that not every one is so misinformed and supports Health Care Reform now.
