Richmond police investigate homicide
Police are on the scene of a homicide in the South Barton Heights area of North Richmond.
Authorities found a male in the area of Monteiro and East Fells streets who apparently had been shot .
No further information was immediately available.

Mikey T, there have been less than 40. Hardly “one everyday”. And nowhere close to the triple digits that occurred in the 90’s. It only seems that way because of the overwhelming media attention that occurrs when one does happen, due in part we have so few now. Contrary to media attention Richmond has made great strides to lower crime tremendously while adjacent counties have risen!
Great article posted by (maxfisher).I read the article written by Patrick Welsh and have to agree with him 100%. This article should be on the front page of every newspaper in Va and handouts of this article be distributed to the black communities because that’s where the solution
lies.
Why don’t King Khalfini and the NAACP address the rampant black on black crime instead of worrying about minor-league baseball names and strip-club owners who post banners outside their club??? This crime pattern is not localized and I can assure you black on black crime has been very prevalent for the past few decades. It is always easier to point the finger elsewhere, but let’s called it like it is and point the finger at the communities where the crime never seems to stop. It is not our fault, you have choices to make and obvioulsy are making the wrong choices day after day after day.
This little bit of information flashes over the police frequency, the editor or reporter has 5 minutes until the presses roll and the cops “ain’t talking” yet. They just get it out there as it is news to someone in that area—family, friends bandits that shot him, etc.

I’ve lived in the Northside for almost 9 years, want to know the real truth? Bad schools, kids having babies, no fathers around, young men selling drugs and want to be thugs. It will never stop——sorry. Best hope is a few will get out of here and do something with there lives before they get shot. Drug deals go on in front of my house all the time, the police know it. They can’t put all these kids in jail, not enough room, and if they do go to jail it just makes them even harder thugs. As long as it’s contained to black communities that’s the best they can do.

This kind of stuff makes us so proud of our Capitol City. It’s worth pointing out too that it’s all in keeping with the Warner/Kaine Tradition of a new softer more gentle approach to law and order. Let’s keep on having more community block parties so everyone can “talk” about problems without ever doing anything about them. Better yet let’s set up another panel or commission to do another study so more tax dollars can be wasted to fatten the bank account of buddy buddy bureaucrats who’re all political buddies playing politics with law and order/public safety wink; wink;
Better get the soldiers off foreign soil and put some of them in Richmond.
Is this news? How many homicides have we had in this city this year—100? It seems like there’s a shooting or murder every day.
