UPDATE: Police identify Prince George slaying victim
Prince George County police this afternoon identified the man found fatally shot early this morning in the driveway of his sister’s home.
Today’s events unfolded about 4:40 a.m. when police were alerted about a possible domestic situation inside a vehicle on Prince George Drive and Middle Road, and an officer heard multiple gunshots just north of there.
“The officer immediately responded to investigate the gunshots,” said Capt. Eric Young. “And about a tenth of a mile from where he was in the 3700 block of Prince George Drive,“ police found William Joseph Miller, 39, with apparent gunshot wounds. He was declared dead at the scene.
Police are investigating whether the earlier domestic dispute is related to the man’s killing.
“We think it’s potentially related, but we’re trying to figure out how it’s related,” Young said.

Will knowing the victims race or nationality make him any less dead?
Condolences to the family.
I agree tman! Every piece of information is very important in these situations! Not only is reporting race fine it is very important for too many reasons to list. If someone has a problem with that they should turn off the computer and the tv and lock themselves in the closet!
I want RTP to report the information they are given by the authorities. Nothing more, nothing less. Reporting the race of someone involved in a crime, whether it be victim or suspect, is fine. Whats the big deal? IF someones red, white, blue, just report what is stated by the police. If that bothers a reader, then so be it.
There have been a lot of questions about the T-D’s policy on racial identification in crime stories. It’s simple, and it’s the same policy we’ve followed for decades. If race is part of an overall description that would help citizens or police spot and capture a suspect, we include it. If race is all we have, we do not include it.

Double standard? I’ll leave it up to the individual readers to decide.
people complain when they dont indicate race, people complain when they do…why even comment?
