High school graduations start today at VCU; expect delays

Motorists driving past Virginia Commonwealth University's Monroe Park campus should expect delays over the next 10 days while high school graduations are held at the Siegel Center.

From today through June 13, more than 20 public high schools from the counties of Chesterfield, Hanover, Henrico and New Kent are holding ceremonies at the Siegel Center at 1200 W. Broad St., along with a private school and a technical school.

Attendance at most of the ceremonies is expected to range from 2,500 to more than 6,000 people. The events are scheduled to start as early as 10 a.m. and as late as 7 p.m., depending on the day.

Those planning to attend ceremonies are advised to arrive early and plan for traffic delays.

Here is the schedule:

10 a.m. to noon, Chesterfield Community High School

4 to 6 p.m., St. Gertrude High School

Tomorrow

10 a.m. to noon, Thomas Dale High School

2:30 to 4:30 p.m., Clover Hill High School

7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monacan High School

Friday, June 5

10 a.m. to noon, Manchester High School

2:30 to 4:30 p.m., Cosby High School

7 to 9 p.m., Matoaca High School

Saturday, June 6

8:30 to 10:30 a.m., New Kent High School

noon to 2 p.m., James River High School

4 to 6 p.m., Midlothian High School

Monday, June 8

10 a.m. to noon, Meadowbrook High School

2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., L.C. Bird High School

Tuesday, June 9

11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Varina High School

3 to 5 p.m., Hermitage High School

7 to 9 p.m., Godwin High School

Wednesday, June 10

11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Highland Springs High School

3 to 5 p.m., Freeman High School

7 to 9 p.m., Deep Run High School

Thursday, June 11

11 a.m. to 1 p.m., J.R. Tucker High School

3 to 5 p.m., Henrico High School

Friday, June 12
