Man killed in early-morning crash in Richmond

One person was killed in a two-car wreck early this morning in South Richmond.

About 2:15 a.m., a Dodge pickup truck headed north on Jefferson Davis Highway hit a Toyota turning south from Atwell Lane onto Jeff Davis, police said.

The Toyota's driver, Santo Ruben Almas-Herrera, 48, of the 5400 block of Remanda Drive in Chesterfield County, died at the scene.

A passenger in his car was taken to the hospital and was listed in critical condition, police said.

The driver of the Dodge was hospitalized in stable condition.

No charges have been filed, but Richmond police continue to investigate.
