State official and former prosecutor join Mayor Jones’ team
Richmond Mayor Dwight Clinton Jones has started filling his administration, announcing Suzette P. Denslow as his chief of staff and David M. Hicks as a senior policy analyst.
Denslow has worked as legislative director and deputy director of policy under Gov. Timothy M. Kaine and Gov. Mark R. Warner.
She also served as deputy secretary of education under Gov. L. Douglas Wilder and worked for the Virginia Municipal League.
Hicks is a partner with the Hicks Tymas law firm and a former commonwealth's attorney of Richmond. He served as chairman of Jones' mayoral transition team.
"I am very pleased that these two individuals have agreed to serve in these key positions," Jones said in a statement released this afternoon.
"Both individuals possess valued backgrounds and expertise in the operations of Richmond and municipal government. Their experience will be invaluable in moving Richmond forward."
In the statement, Kaine praised Denslow, saying he could not "think of a more devoted public servant or a more passionate advocate for the city of Richmond. We will miss her in the Governor's office, but are excited to see her assume this new leadership role with Mayor Jones." -- Will Jones
