Henrico police recover suspect from swamp
Henrico County police ended an hours-long search for a larceny suspect just before 5 p.m. today, plucking him from a swamp off Patterson Avenue.
Police said a man suspected of stealing computer items from the Wal-Mart near Short Pump Town Center early this afternoon fled from police and ran from his vehicle, creating a potentially dangerous situation.
Police called in 15 officers, air surveillance and tracking dogs in an area of Patterson Avenue near the Goochland County line.
The suspect, whose identity was not immediately available, was pulled from the swampy area surrounding Tuckahoe Creek and was being transported for processing in a wagon that can be easily hosed out, police said.

I’m the LP who made the initial stop for shoplifting and I don’t think the police made a bad decision at all. He stole a $844 computer and I garuntee it wasn’t his first time, not to mention he fought with me and the female who was with him mased me. He bailed out of the car when they tried to pull it over so that’s why they had to chase him through the swamp, the car wasn’t registered to him. I’m sure he was running for a reason, probably has warrants for other stuff.
K-State Wildcat:
1) Police have no idea whether the vehicle is owned by the suspect or stolen, etc. So that doesn’t help.
2) Until the crapbag is caught, they have no idea who he is or what else he may have done. What if this guy was a serial rapist, terrorist, pedophile, etc.?
Lots of serious criminals are caught doing something simple and stupid.
Let me see if I understand this correctly,.. the “criminal” was wanted for stealing computer items from a Wal-Mart and was described as a “LARCENY suspect,.. is that right????
He also left his vehicle to flee into the swamp… and for this the Henrico PD calls out their air support, additional officers and the dogs,.. in a time of very tight budgets they spend this amount of money to capture a “larceny suspect”????
The man left his vehicle, registration with his personal information,.. duh!! And we wonder why local governments are broke,.. here’s a good example. Someone needs to be held accountable for very poor decision making in this one.
can you imagine how bad the car would smell with all of that nasty swamp mud in it?? eeewwwwwwwwww lol
I was worried there for a second…..and then I read that the vehicle can be easily hosed out. Thank God
