Richmond The Virginia Holocaust Museum is showing the film "The Unknown Solider" tonight at 7. The film, directed by Michael Verhoeven, documents the Wehrmacht exhibition as it made its way around Germany from 1999 to 2004. This exhibit challenged the once-pervasive view that the common German soldier was generally unaware of the atrocities committed during the Holocaust. The film chronicles the controversy and protests by neo-Nazis that followed the exhibit around the country.

Hanover A 2-year-old gray colt that was put up for auction yesterday by the Hanover County's Sheriff's Office was bought by the stable owner of the farm where it lives. Stephanie Nixon, owner of Horseshoe Hill Farm in Ashland, had been training and caring for the horse since September 2008 but had not been paid by its owner for more than a year. She put up the winning -- and only -- bid of $1,500. The horse was worth about $8,000. She said a handful of people showed up to look at the horse. "I was surprised that I had that much turnout," she said. "I really didn't think anybody was going to come." Nixon said she'll continue training the horse, which doesn't have an official name.

Springfield A Fairfax County couple accused of allowing their 5-month-old son to overdose on heroin have been arrested on child-abuse charges. Police say Marilyn Fischl, 36, and Rafael Preston, 30, face felony child-abuse and neglect charges. Officials believe the infant picked up a packet of heroin and put it in his mouth as his parents and their two friends consumed heroin in the couple's home in July. Fischl and Preston were arrested Thursday.
