Lexington Virginia Military Institute plans to review its training procedures after the death of a freshman who collapsed after completing a 10-mile march. Col. Stewart MacInnis says the school will review everything that occurred to determine whether any procedures should be modified. John Alexander Evans, 19, of Highland, Md., collapsed in his barracks room after completing the training march with other members of his class Saturday. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital shortly after noon. The cause of death hasn't been determined. MacInnis says students must meet medical standards before they are admitted to the school. Senior Matthew Graham says Evans gave no indication of trouble during the march.

Harrisonburg A student journalist at James Madison University says she won't appeal a ruling that she trespassed when she entered a dorm to interview students about a peeping Tom incident. Katie Hibson, 19, said she accepted the ruling issued Thursday by the university's Office of Judicial Affairs. But Hibson, a reporter for the campus newspaper The Breeze, said she didn't violate any rules. The office had charged Hibson and Editor-in-Chief Tim Chapman, 21, with trespassing, disorderly conduct and noncompliance with an official request. Hibson was found responsible only for trespassing. The charges against Chapman were dismissed. A resident adviser and the dorm director had told the students to leave as they interviewed residents on Oct. 18.
