Petersburg The Cockade City Garden Club will serve lunch and present a Fashion Show on Tuesday at Christ & Grace Church. Chesterfield Crestwood Elementary School is sponsoring a Nature Fair and Plant Sale from 1 to 4 p.m. today. The event will include wildlife encounters, music by the Richmond Indigenous Gourd Orchestra, a fishing derby in a nearby lake, nature-based crafts including fish prints and bird feeders, nature games, displays by more than 30 groups and a raffle. Celebrating April as "Children and Nature Awareness Month," the event will also include sales of plants that students, teachers and parents have grown in the Crestwood greenhouse. Herbs, vegetables and flowers will be sold. The proceeds will be used for greenhouse projects.

Richmond Area agencies that serve the Latino community are reaching out to those who have limited access to services in an effort to inform, empower and support them. These agencies will be participating in the Feeding the Mind, Body & Spirit event today, 11a.m. to 2 p.m., at La Siesta Restaurant, 9900 Midlothian Turnpike. Agency representatives will teach the families how to access the resources that are available in the community so that they can better sustain their families. Henrico A workshop on green infrastructure will be held Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Fairfield Branch Library, 1001 N. Laburnum Ave. The workshop will explain how Henrico County can conserve green infrastructure assets and demonstrate new tools for conserving these assets and showcase maps for Henrico County and how the county fits into the region's larger green infrastructure network. Chesterfield The South Richmond Rotary Club donated $50,000 this week to Families of the Wounded Fund, an organization in Midlothian that provides financial resources in support of family members and caregivers of military service men and women wounded in combat. The funds were raised at the Rotary Club's annual charity auction in February.

Dillwyn An Earth Day celebration is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Ellis Acres Memorial Park, 245 Camden St. Supporters of Ellis Acres Memorial Park Inc. will gather and remove trash from the 9.25-acre park site. The celebration is sponsored by Dillwyn.

Virginia Beach Three Landstown High School students face charges in what authorities say may have been a plot targeting the school. Virginia Beach officials said yesterday that a 16-year-old was charged Thursday with conspiracy to manufacture and/or possess explosive devices for use in a terrorist act and other counts. A 15-year-old was charged with manufacturing and possessing multiple explosive devices with the intention of using them in an act of terrorism and possession and use of a sawed-off shotgun. A 17-year-old had already been charged this month with manufacturing and possessing an explosive device, in addition to one count of manufacturing an explosive device for use in a terrorist act. -- From Staff and Wire Reports
