VDOT closing lanes to repair Interstate 64

Some lanes on Interstate 64 will be closed this weekend for repaving, the Virginia Department of Transportation announced.

The exit ramp from I-64 west /I-95 north to I-195 south will be closed Sunday from 7 a.m.- 4 p.m. VDOT said motorists needing to access I-195 from I-64/I-95 should use the following detour:

  • I-95 north to Exit 78 (Boulevard),

  • Left on Hermitage Road to Robin Hood Road,

  • Right on Robin Hood and then right on North Boulevard,

  • North Boulevard to Hermitage Road,

  • Left on Laburnum Avenue then enter I-195 south.

VDOT also announced the following lane closures on I-64:

  • Alternating lane closures on I-64 east at the exit ramp to I-95 south Saturday night through 6:00 a.m. Sunday to allow crews to pave the I-295 north loop toward I-64 east.

  • Alternating lane closures on I-64 east between the Broad Street/Glenside Drive exit (Exit 183) and Staples Mill Road (Exit 185) through 6 p.m. Sunday for pavement repair.

  • Closure of the right lane on I-64 west between Staples Mill Road (Exit 185) and the Broad Street/Glenside Drive exit (Exit 183) from 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday for pavement repair.

It’s good to see VDOT paving roads that actually need it, for a change.  There are a lot more such in the Richmond area, and I hope they can focus on those.
