Richmond death called self-defense

Police say last night's fatal shooting in North Richmond was a case of self-defense.

Darrell Jerome Ross, 38, shot and killed Edward Mitchell Perry Jr. 29, after Perry came into Ross' home armed with a gun and looking for someone with whom Perry had had a previous disagreement, police said.

Also during the ordeal, Perry shot an 18-year-old man in the hand, authorities said. The incident took place in the 3100 block of Griffin Avenue.

Ross was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, and police said they do not anticipate additional charges in the case.

Police declined to provide additional details about the incident. A woman and two men at the house on Griffin Avenue declined to discuss in detail what had happened.

I would take a possesion of a firearm charge in exchange for my life.  But honestly, it’s not fair that felons can’t defend themselves.  One simple past indescretion revokes your right to possess a life saver?  Free 89
