New Year’s holiday schedule

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT

OFFICES -- Closed Thursday.

POSTAL SERVICE -- Closed Thursday; no delivery.

OFFICES -- Close at 1 p.m. tomorrow and will reopen Monday.

COUNTY, CITY OFFICES -- Richmond, Charles City, Hanover and Henrico closed Thursday and will reopen Friday. Chesterfield, Goochland, Powhatan and New Kent closed Thursday and will reopen Monday.

COLLEGES -- Closed; reopen Jan. 5.

SCHOOLS -- Closed; reopen Jan. 5.

COURTS -- Most courts closed tomorrow -- however there are exceptions. Contact the courts for specific information. All courts closed Thursday and Friday.

DMV -- Customer-service centers close at 1 p.m. tomorrow and will reopen Saturday.

LIBRARIES -- Most libraries close early tomorrow; contact for specific hours. All libraries closed Thursday. Richmond, Henrico, Chesterfield, Goochland, Hanover and Heritage Public Library (serving Charles City and New Kent) reopen Friday. Powhatan reopen Saturday.

TRASH -- Richmond and Henrico: no pickups Thursday. Collections a day late starting Friday. Central Virginia Waste Management Authority pickups will be a day late starting Friday. Transfer stations and landfills closed Thursday.

RECYCLING -- No curbside recycling Thursday. Pickups will be a day late starting Friday.

TRAFFIC -- On Thursday, city parking meters, time-zones signs, peak-time travel lanes, and no-parking and restricted-parking zones will not be enforced. On Friday, only no-parking and restricted-parking zones will be enforced.

GRTC -- Tomorrow, buses will operate on a normal schedule. GRTC will offer free trips to passengers after 7 p.m. on New Year's Eve. On Thursday, buses will operate on a Sunday/holiday schedule.

STOCK MARKET -- Closed Thursday.

BANKS -- Closed Thursday.

ABC STORES -- Closed Thursday.

MAJOR MALLS -- Open; contact for specific hours.

TIMES-DISPATCH -- Will be delivered.
