UPDATE: Southbound I-95 closed at Colonial Heights

An accident involving three tractor trailers has backed up southbound Interstate 95 traffic for five miles beginning at Colonial Heights.

Highway officials said this evening that they are diverting southbound traffic off the interstate at state Route 10 at exit 61, then to I-295 south or to US 1/301.

It was not known if any injuries are involved in the accident at the Temple Avenue exit into Colonial Heights near mile marker 58.

The five-mile back-up was reported at about 5:30 p.m. and had been holding at the length for abourt 20 minutes. The accident occurred about 4:30 p.m.
