Despite 35 points from Eric Maynor, Virginia Commonwealth lost to East Carolina 93-90 tonight in overtime.

Maynor brought VCU back time after time, scoring 27 points in the second half and overtime period.

The Rams led by 11 in the first half but went through a scoreless drought for 5½ minutes at the end of the first half and the beginning of the second.

VCU trailed by eight with 2:20 left but forged a tie with 36 seconds left when Larry Sanders caught a lob pass from Maynor and stuffed the ball. East Carolina had a chance to win in regulation, but Sam Hinnant's 3-pointer missed with 2 seconds left.

The Pirates broke a 90-90 tie when Darrius Morrow hit the second of two foul shots with 20 seconds left. Maynor was called for a charge at the other end -- his fifth foul.

East Carolina's Brock Young hit two foul shots with 10 seconds left to make it 93-30. Bradford Burgess' 3-pointer at the buzzer fell short.

Is anyone else bothered by the fact that the TD omits the box score from college basketball stories now? I like to see the stats, not a reporter’s interpretation of them. If the box is hidden somewhere in the www, I would appreciate directions to that location.
