Attorney General rules against VITA chief’s dual roles

Leonard M. “Len” Pomata

Attorney General William C. Mims has ruled that Secretary of Technology Leonard M. "Len" Pomata may not serve simultaneously in that capacity and as chief information officer of the state's IT agency.
The opinion, released late this afternoon, is in response to a question that Del. Samuel A. Nixon, R-Chesterfield, raised about the arrangement.
In June, Pomata took over temporarily as the chief computer czar after former CIO Lemuel C. Stewart Jr., was ousted following his complaint that Northrop Grumman was not fulfilling its obligations under a $2.3 billion contract with the state to provide the IT services.
Pomata also serves on the board that oversees the IT agency.

This is GREAT news! Pomata and the ITIB are bad news!
Now bring back Stewart through the end of his contract. He finally figured out what needs to be done to start fixing this mess. The ITIB needs to get out of the way and let him do what’s right for the Commonwealth!
And while we’re fixing things, stop this ITIB from hiring a new CIO! The CIO should be appointed by and accountable to the Governor; not this Governor but the next!
