Richmond Sheriff Woody accused of sexual battery

» 3 Comments | Post a Comment

A special prosecutor has been assigned to investigate an allegation of sexual battery made against Richmond Sheriff C.T. Woody, a law-enforcement official confirmed tonight.

An adult woman made the allegation against Woody to Richmond authorities, and the matter later was referred to a special prosecutor, the official said.

It could not be confirmed when the incident is alleged to have taken place or the status of the investigation.

"There's no merit to it," Woody said by phone tonight, adding, "I haven't been charged with anything that I know of."

He declined further comment. No further information was available. -- Reed Williams

I wouldn’t jump to judgement just yet. It could just be a he said/she said situation. At this point, I still have faith in Woody. Appointing a Special Prosecutor is a very early step in these things, and it’s the RIGHT step. Richmond PD, Comm.Atty, etc. should not be investigating this.

A special prosecutor and special grand jury is how most things should be handled for someone in Woody’s position.

Let’s see if the special grand jury indicts him.
