Center to help region’s laid-off workers opens today in Henrico
A new option opens today for thousands of people who have lost their jobs in the Richmond area.
The Capital Region Employment Transition Center will begin helping displaced workers from eight localities -- Richmond and the counties of Henrico, Chesterfield, Hanover, Goochland, Powhatan, New Kent and Charles City.
The center will operate each weekday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 4060 Innslake Drive, in the former Innsbrook Public Library in western Henrico. The phone number for the center is (804) 273-6260.
People who have been laid off will be able to get help from workers donated by participating localities, mental-health agencies and nonprofit organizations.
Services will include help finding work and being retrained, credit and housing counseling, and assistance with needs such as food, energy and mental health. The center also will have a paid staff of seven people.
The center is an initiative of the Capital Region Workforce Partnership, formed last fall through the merger of organizations in Richmond and the seven counties. It is funded by a $500,000 state grant, with space and utilities supplied by Henrico and office furniture donated by an anonymous local company. -- Michael Martz

There is a bus that comes out here. It stops at the Ukrops by Gaskins Rd. From there it is a half mile or so to the center (maybe a mile). I think it is bus #19 (Pemberton).
It’s in Innsbrook, so if a bus goes out there that would be the one….I’m not sure they have buses out there though
Which bus line do I take to get out there?
