Light rain began falling in Richmond this evening as snow began again to the north and west.

Richmond’s precipitation could include some sleet overnight before turning into snow about daybreak Wednesday. About 1 to 2 inches of snow could fall by mid-day.

Northern Virginia, which got more than two feet of snow this past weekend, could get 7 to 14 inches by the end of Wednesday, the weather service said.

Light snow was falling this evening in Northern Virginia. To the west, Highland County had nearly 2 inches by this afternoon and Rockbridge County had 1½.

“Be thankful you’re down here,“ said Wayne Albright, a weather service meteorologist in Wakefield.

The Richmond region also could see wind gusts up to about 40 mph on Wednesday.

“Tomorrow is going to be more wintry,“ Albright said.

So far this season, 24.7 inches of snow have fallen at Richmond International Airport. That is the most snow since the region got 28.3 inches in 1995-96 and the fourth highest total in the past 30 years.

This has been the region’s 16th snowiest winter since records began in 1897-98.

I’m baffled… what part of this forecast confused school leaders this morning?  I think it was made pretty clear that snow was going to happen this morning.  They should have acted more responsibly, called a 2 hour delay by 5:30/6 this morning, and reassessed the situation as that 2 hour time approached.

“the green movement if you want to call it that couldn’t be more different than religion its based on science not faith”

Well actually its based on a scientific theory, and hey it may have some merit, but humans have been on this earth for thousand of years, and the small changes in climate do not exceed the rate of evolution and adaption by the more advanced species, the fact is this planet is ever changing no matter what you do to stop it. Some species will adapt and some will disappear. Eventually that will include humans as well or at least what we refer to as the normal human now. Granted the human race is far more advanced than other species before us, and it is highly likely to survive, but you can bet its survival will have nothing to do with the existence of catalytic converters or mandatory mileage standards. Of course nobody wants smog, but nobody wants to spend a hundred thousand dollars on a car either, so you see Willis, its really a trade off… So you keep your Tofu and your Prius and Ill keep my Chicken, Steak & Hemi

Willis,

Priority Toyota called, the parts for your Prius came in this morning… Apparently as an added bonus Toyota has agreed to furnish each and every Prius owner with a life size Al Gore inflatable doll so you can use the HOV lanes without fear of prosecution and make it to the beach for one last look before all the snow melts and Norfolk drops into the ocean. The guilt has begun to over run me, I doubt I will ever be able to start a weed eater again without tearing up…

Nice sarcasm willis.I don’t practice a religion be it christian or green. The green movement is just like the other religion’s you have to have faith. And if someone questions your faith you dismiss.I for one like to think for myself and not follow trends or the latest craze to keep my weak mind occupied. The earth is 4 billion years old by science.the earth has warmed and cooled long before we were here.We are just a passing itch on the earth. And as for jesus if it is so important to be saved why does he leave that up to faith.Sounds like the same argument for each?

somke14 you sound charming, but it appears that the virginia climate is too cold for you. perhaps you and your family should head south to a nice warm place on the gulf and since warming ocean temperatures are mythical you don’t need to worry too much about major coastal storms. and of course that al gore and his lies of rising sea levels, which by the way al gore what a jacka** he is, so flooding isn’t a concern which is cetainly good news. I say we burn more coal and oil spewing smoke and co2 into the air couldn’t possibly have an effect on the climate what non sense. when jesus wants the world to end he’s going to come down and save us anyway.

“Let it snow. I much rather walk in this weather than the nasty humid summer with all the mosquitoes and gnats.“

donk, i hear ya on that.

you can dress warmly to get comfortable and go out in the winter, but it’s just not possible in the hot, humid summers ... I FREAKING HATE THEM !!!

i’ve been here over 20 years, and richmond generally ROCKS, but the brutal summers are about the only thing i don’t like, everything else i can deal with!

but what can you do about the weather?

here’s hoping for a comfortable upcoming spring and summer, and in the meantime, LET IT SNOW!!!
