A hunter was found dead early today in a wooded area off River Road in Chesterfield County after he had been reported missing by his family, police said.
The body of Carl Walls Sr., 52, who lived nearby, was found about 3 a.m. on private property where he had permission to hunt, said Police Lt. Matt Botset.
Officials are investigating the cause of death. There was no obvious trauma and “nothing that appeared to be foul play or anything like that,“ Botset said.
Chesterfield officers along with canine units from the state Department of Corrections and the Hopewell police had searched the area starting about 10 p.m. Wednesday, Botset said.
