Thanksgiving forecast: light rain

Thanksgiving holiday travelers probably won’t be deterred by an expected light rain, officials said today.

A quarter-inch or less of rain may fall on the eastern half of Virginia on Wednesday and Thanksgiving day, the National Weather Service said.

Windy VanCuren, a spokeswoman for the travel organization AAA Mid-Atlantic, said that should not be enough to interfere with travel plans.

AAA expects the number of Virginians traveling by car, bus, train and airplane during the Wednesday-through-Sunday holiday to increase about 3 percent over last year.
