Richmonder dies after Henrico crash

A Richmond man died Monday from injuries he received in a two-vehicle crash in Henrico County the night before, Virginia State Police said.

Calvin Archer, 65, of the 2800 block of Hanes Avenue was on a scooter that was struck by a car on Azalea Avenue at Edgefield Street on Sunday at 11:26 p.m., police said. He died at VCU Medical Center at 5:05 a.m. He had been wearing a helmet, police said.

There have been 602 deaths on Virginia highways this year, compared with 753 as of the same date last year, state police said yesterday.
