AMELIA -- Preliminary hearings will be May 26 for three of the five people charged with being an accessory after the fact in the killing of a popular Powhatan High School student.

Brad L. Harris, Randall C. Powers and his wife, Brenda F. Powers, were scheduled to be in Amelia County General District Court yesterday, but the hearing was continued, Commonwealth's Attorney Lee Harrison said.

The Powerses and Harris each are charged with several counts of being an accessory after the fact in the June 24 slaying of Tahliek Taliaferro. Another youth, Courtney Jones, was injured in the shooting.

Three Powhatan youths face murder charges in the slaying. Cousins Joseph "Joey" Parrish and Ethan Parrish are scheduled to stand trial in March.

Harris and the Powerses and two others facing charges in Powhatan are accused of helping the three charged in the slaying to flee the area.
