Police said that a pickup truck involved in a serious hit-and-run Sunday night may be missing part of a plastic bug deflector across the hood.

A triangular piece of plastic about eight inches long was recovered at the site of the accident about 40 yards west of the 17th Street Farmer's Market on East Main Street.

Police are now saying that a red or maroon truck with a double set of rear tires struck a couple as they crossed East Main Street from north to south.

There was no word about the condition of the man and woman today, who suffered multiple serious injuries about 9:11 p.m.
