Man plunges through awning of Richmond restaurant

A man caught urinating in a downtown alley caused a commotion yesterday when he jumped from the roof of the Red Door Restaurant, plunging through the eatery's front awning.

He escaped after hitting the ground, police said.

The incident began around noon when a Richmond police officer on bicycle spotted a man relieving himself in the alley in the 200 block of East Grace Street. After being ordered to stop, the man ran off and climbed onto an outside refrigerator behind the restaurant, located at 314 E. Grace St., said police spokeswoman Dionne Waugh.

From there, the man climbed onto the roof, ran across to the front and jumped through the awning to the pavement below and ran away, Waugh said.

Some states will put you on a sex offender registry for urinating in public.

I wonder if this man is homeless. If he is, then it is “logical” for him to go there because not a lot of establishments would open their restrooms for homeless people. Nevertheless, the police officer should’ve at least waited until he finishes “going”. When the cop told him to stop, did he run while liquid is still being sprinkled everywhere?? I mean, that is one more contamination to worry about. Instead of “containing” it on the wall of that alley, now it is from the alley to the Red Door awning and everywhere else.

“After being ordered to stop, the man ran off ...“  Just how does one stop relieving himself?

I’m thinking he may have had something illegal in his possesion, because otherwise why run, unless he’s a super hero we know nothing about, but if so he should never leave home without his cape or he could really hurt himself the next time. LOL
