CUMBERLAND -- Three men are being held without bond in a drive-by shooting in Cumberland County, a spokesman for the sheriff's office said.

Donnell D. Smith, Yusuf A. Johnson and Michael L. Baker, all of Cumberland County, were arrested Wednesday and are being held on two counts each of attempted murder, aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm, Capt. S.L. Godsey said.

The shooting occurred the previous Sunday, April 26, on Holman Mill Road off state Route 45 in the southern end of the county.

The two victims, whose names are not being released, suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, investigators said. One man was treated at Southside Community Hospital and released, investigators said. The other was taken to VCU Medical Center, where he was treated and released last Monday, April 27, investigators said.

Cumberland deputies were called on April 26 about 11:30 p.m. to Southside Community Hospital, where they learned the two victims were being treated for gunshot wounds.

Investigators are not commenting on whether the victims and suspects know one other or what may have prompted the shooting.
