Sniper Muhammad to die by lethal injection

If executed as scheduled Nov. 10, condemned Beltway sniper John Allen Muhammad will die by lethal injection, not electrocution.

Larry Traylor, spokesman for the Virginia Department of Corrections, said yesterday that Muhammad, 48, declined to choose between either means of execution. In such cases, the default method is lethal injection.

In 1995, Virginia began giving the condemned the option of lethal injection instead of electrocution. Since then, there have been 75 lethal injections and four electrocutions.

Muhammad was sentenced to die for the Oct. 9, 2002, slaying of Dean Meyers, 53, shot to death by a rifle fired at long range while he was stopped at a Manassas-area gas station on his way home from work.

The slaying was one of 10 killings and three woundings committed by Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo, 24, that spread fear throughout Maryland, Washington and Virginia in October 2002. Malvo, a juvenile at the time of the shootings, is serving a life term.

Unless the courts or the governor intervene, Muhammad's execution is set for 9 p.m. at the Greensville Correctional Center in Jarratt.

Let me share something with you, One of my very best friends in this freaking world was killed by that low life scum bag of the earth loser without a heart. So DONT you tell me that that sorry SOB shouldnt be put down ,jUST LIKE A RABID DOG…at least the dog doesnt know what it’s doing,
Think of it as getting even!!!
I watch my friends’ suffer every day for months and months,They were torn apart, in pain from this ugly monster!! and you know what because they trust in God after time they forgave his soul; Stronger then what I can be for sure, at least I can admitt it, They ARE good people and didnt deserve their daughter to be gunned down by obviously a devil in disquse,
I could care less about other’s that want to put themselves in that postion, that was their choice and they either have to live with or they dont, either way it’s those kind that has to stand in front of God,
And leave MY kids out of this, I work hard everyday and I have no problems paying my bill’s Okay so stop acting like you know me,

As a matter of fact I would have the exact same view of the situation if it had been my family member killed in 2002.
I don’t really care about the death penalty in capital murder cases, it’s just not an issue I’m going to fight about. Kill ‘em, don’t kill ‘em, I don’t care.
That said, I think it’s so creepy to read stuff like “we should let his victims’ families come in and torture him to death and shoot him and poke him with hot coat hangers” or whatever sick stuff people post. Why don’t we just bring back the guillitine and do it in the middle of broad street? Why don’t we just crucify him?

Or, why don’t we stop celebrating killing, even in the case of someone who has forfeited their right to live?
Think of it like a rabid dog, he’s being put down.

Lastly, stop telling me how comfy jail is. It’s aweful and I would rather die than spend 10 years in prison. Your kids are not going hungry to keep people like him encarcerated. Your kids are going hungry to keep third strike marijuana posessors in jail. Your kids are going hungry to line the pockets of private prison companies, like those in Texas where Dick Cheney has a large amount of owner’s equity. Your kids are going hungry from all of the court costs associated with appealing a death penalty sentence. Housing them until they die in a gruesome prison rape is much more cost effective.

I bet you wouldnt have wrote those words had it been you’re family shot down for no reason other then they were at the wrong place at the wrong time,
I dont feel sorry for someone that put himself in the place he is in now, I am sooooo tired of paying for their three meals and a bed, they get to finish their schooling by getting their GED, internet and you can bet they get a warm shower everyday! There are hard working Americans that are having their light’s turned off as I speak because they cant afford it, and then there is this shameless killer that is all warm and fed, No I wont “CHILL OUT” Not until they fix this problem,
My thought is if you kill then you should be killed and eye for an eye,
you made your bed now lie in it,
They are way to soft on murderer’s, and I am ticked off for having to pay for it,
My own family need’s things, That you and me are having to put aside just so a MASS MURDERER can have a warm bed and three meal’s, doesnt that bother you at all?
What about these familie’s that go to bed at night still and cry for the one they lost to this evil person,
I say fry him over and over and over again!

The DC sniper was 1 mile from my son’s home in Silver Spring Maryland. I can not begin to explain how the feeling of doom had over come me.  I did not know if my son would be the next victim. I once believed that execution was the wrong thing to do, but John Allen Muhammad has changed my mind.

Cool out people, justice is being served.

I think in a civilized society like America it’s best to just be very deliberate and cold about these kinds of things. He’s a sick puppy, he will be put down, end of story.

I wish Dick and George hadn’t made torture seem so mainstream and exciting.

I cannot believe that the State of Virginia gave this criminal a choice.  There are much better ways of making this piece of S*** suffer while putting him to death.

A Sadam style public hanging would be better.
