Chesterfield woman faces charge of endangerment
Chesterfield mother, Daphne Holt, indicted on child-endangerment charges for allegedly driving drunk with 9 month-old son in car; he was not belted into child-safety seat. She also was charged with 3rd-offense DUI.
A Chesterfield County mother accused of driving drunk with her 9-month-old son unbelted in his child-safety seat has been indicted on a felony child-endangerment charge.
A Chesterfield Circuit Court grand jury returned the indictment Jan. 20 against Daphne N. Holt, 25, who also is charged with driving while intoxicated for a third time since December 2003.
Authorities say Holt was stopped Oct. 10 about 9:30 p.m. at Hull Street and Winterpock roads after a police officer observed her driving erratically on Woodlake Village Parkway. She failed a sobriety test and was charged with felony drunken driving, because it was her third such offense.
The officer found Holt's infant son unbuckled in his child seat, which wasn't secured to the seat of her car, Chesterfield police Lt. Randy Horowitz said.
The officer also determined that Holt was driving on a suspended driver's license, which had been revoked for three years after her second drunken-driving conviction two years ago.
Holt was fined $250 and sentenced to six months in jail, all suspended, for her first DUI conviction in February 2004, and fined $500 and sentenced to six months in jail with five months and 10 days suspended for her second DUI conviction in December 2006, according to court records.
Holt also has numerous convictions for speeding, reckless driving, driving on a suspended license, failing to follow court instructions and being in contempt of court, records show.
She is scheduled to appear March 5 in Chesterfield General District Court on the felony DUI charge. A Circuit Court trial date has not been set in the child-endangerment case.

OK… I know Im part of the minority here but my compassionate side will not allow me to discount the fact that this girl is probobly self medicating to drown some horrific past experiences. Is does not excuse her actions, Im with you all on that, but lets be for real. Are the courts addressing the psychological side of these issues. She doesn’t just need rehab to get off the alcohol, she needs to get to the root of what she thinks the alcohol is curing. God Bless her and her sweet child.
There are a few choice words I could say about this woman, but I would hope that a judge would throw her in jail for a very, very long time. She’s got no respect or regard for herself, her child or the people around her - she’s going to end up killing someone.
This is so wrong in so many ways! It is obvious this woman will continue to drink and drive, no matter if she has a license or not. Ten days in jail is only enough to get a little sober which is only a band aid before a huge tragedy. It seems the system is only set up to make money not to put habitual offenders behind bars or in rehab.
Maybe if the courts were held accoutabe after they are let go and then kill someone they would think twice. We keep talking tudd laws but they are only good if those on the bench enforce them to the FULL extent not a slap on the wrist.
A NY prosecutor wants to make a death caused by a DUI a murder charge. Well that is what it is “Murder”
The most annoying part is that she is smiling in the mug shot. Ugh.
They should conntinue to lock up older uglier women.
Attractice women don’t typically get the jail sentences that other offenders get. Look at stories about older women have sex with underage boys. If the women are attractive they usually get probation or suspended sentences. If they are older, less attractive, etc they will get a few months sentence. If the offender is a man he’ll serve a solid few years in jail.

This chick’s a walking crime spree, ain’t she? Throw her in prison for 3-5 years, give the kid to a relative and let’s move on.
Simply incomprehensible. Words fail me.
If she has had so many convictions, why is she not in jail already! Are they waiting until she kills someone?
