Richmond police were searching for three males in a carjacking yesterday that injured a man in the Carver neighborhood.

Police said the victim was assaulted by three males and then struck by his silver 2002 Chevrolet Impala four-door sedan as the robbers drove away in the car. The victim was treated for injuries that police said were not life-threatening.

Police said the victim described the suspects in the 1:16 a.m. attack in the 800 block of Catherine Street as:

  • a black male, age 30 to 34, with a dark complexion, a muscular build, unkempt hair, a large nose and chubby cheeks, who was wearing a black T-shirt, black shorts, black Nike boots and carrying a black handgun;

  • a black male, age 22 to 23, about 6-foot-1 with a thin build, medium complexion and short hair, who was wearing a white tank top and carrying a silver, snub-nosed revolver; and

  • a black male, about 5-foot-9 with short hair cut in waves.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000.

Police said the robbery stemmed from a fight between people who possibly knew one another and may have grown from a dispute in the neighborhood just north of Virginia Commonwealth University's fine-arts building.

The Impala was recovered shortly before 11:30 a.m.
