A Chesterfield County husband and wife are listed in critical condition this evening after a shooting at their Arsenal Hills home off Huguenot Road.

Chesterfield police said they are treating the shootings as domestic in nature.

According to VCU Medical Center, Marshall E. Johnson and Lisette P. Johnson were in critical condition.

Chesterfield police said they believe Marshall Johnson suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound and that his wife also was shot. Two children were in the home in the 10800 block of Hinshaw Drive at the time of the 1:30 p.m. incident.

The home is in a wooded neighborhood bordered by Cherokee, Huguenot and Old Gun roads.

Property records show that the couple have lived in the home several years. Neighbors said Lisette Johnson is associated with a travel agency and her husband is believed to be in the fuel oil business.

Police remained on the scene late into the evening.

I grew up on Old Gun Rd for most of my life. We moved there in 1961. It backs up to Hinshaw Drive.  I am so upset that a crime like this was in that area.  I pray for the family involved and know that God will prepare a way for healing.  My sincerest condolences.

For anyone out there who might be considering such a drastic course of action as this, please - think of your children or other family members and how they might be affected. There are other alternatives when life as it is becomes unbearable - counseling, separation, divorce (if necessary). Any of these are better than taking your own life or someone elses.

I am praying for my neigbor and long time friend to pull through. She is a wonderful person and hoping for the best for them. This is a terrible event to come home and discover.

What a nightmare.  Those poor kids.  I hope they have close relatives who can look after them and begin what will be a lengthy healing process at the least.
