MARTINSVILLE -- A man suspected of fatally shooting four men in the parking lot of a North Carolina television shop was arrested early Monday in Virginia, police said.

Police in Mount Airy, N.C., said Marcos Chavez Gonzalez was arrested without incident at a motel in Henry County, about 50 miles northeast of Mount Airy near the state line. He was charged with four counts of murder.

Gonzalez was being held in the Henry County Jail, though it wasn't clear whether he had an attorney, jail workers said.

Gonzalez was wanted in the slayings of four men who were shot with a high-powered assault rifle late Sunday outside Woods TV in Mount Airy, a small town about 100 miles north of Charlotte.

Police do not believe the shootings were random. Mount Airy Police Chief Dale Watson said officers are investigating several leads, including whether it was a contract killing or repercussions from a love affair gone bad.

Watson said at a news conference Monday that the victims were shot less than a mile from the police station.

Watson identified the victims -- all residents of Mount Airy -- as Victor Alfonso Martinez-Jimenez, 22; Javier Manuel Martinez, 21; Juan Manuel Martinez, 26; and Marcos Oviedo Aguliar, 21.
